About Tastes of Love & Light

Thai vegan cooking with heart, soul and serious flavour

Tastes of Love & Light is more than a cookbook.

It is part Thai cooking class, part personal transformation story, and part invitation to eat with greater compassion, awareness and joy.

Philippa Kingsley spent more than 20 years as the Founder and Executive Chef of a Thai catering company and Thai cooking school in Atlanta, Georgia and The Hague in The Netherlands. Thai food was her life, her craft and her great love.

Then her spiritual work and animal communication opened the door to a new way of seeing food. Over time, Philippa became vegan — and began the seven-year journey of transforming her personal Thai recipe collection into fully vegan dishes that lose none of the depth, elegance or excitement of traditional Thai cuisine.

Inside the book, you’ll find 86 vegan Thai recipes, including familiar favourites and lesser-known regional dishes, all tested and refined with the care of a professional chef.

Expect lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, tamarind, coconut milk, fragrant curry pastes, bright herbs, silky sauces, sticky rice, mango, chilli, lime — and absolutely no apologetic “that’ll do” vegan cooking. Philippa’s mantra says it best:

Compromise with life, but never with food.

You’ll Discover

With Tastes of Love & Light, you’ll learn how to:

  • Create authentic Thai flavours using entirely vegan ingredients
  • Set up your own Thai vegan kitchen with the right herbs, spices, sauces and equipment
  • Make foundational curry pastes from scratch
  • Prepare Thai appetizers, salads, soups, curries, stir fries, noodles, rice dishes, desserts and drinks
  • Understand the balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy that defines Thai cuisine
  • Explore the cultural traditions of Thailand’s four main culinary regions
  • Cook with confidence, whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, plant-curious or simply obsessed with Thai food
  • Approach food as an act of compassion, consciousness and joy

This is a cookbook for food lovers who want flavour first — and ethics without the lecture-hammer. Nobody needs to be beaten over the head with a tofu block. Philippa simply opens the kitchen door and says, “Come and taste what’s possible.”
